ICET 2009 World Assembly
CALL FOR PAPERS
ICET invites research-based papers, or papers related to policy development or best practice at
either preservice or inservice development to be considered for acceptance and inclusion in the
program for the 2009 World Assembly. Each accepted paper will be assigned to one of the
following presentation formats:

Symposium — Three papers are presented on an
integrated theme.

Individual research paper — The author will
be expected to make a 15-20 minute oral presentation of his/her paper, and to participate in subsequent discussion.
Two to four such presentations will be scheduled in one workshop session.

Narrative/”Best Practice” discussions — The
author will be expected to present his/her narrative and/or "best practice" description, and incorporate discussion
within or subsequent to the presentation. Two to four such presentations will be scheduled in one workshop session.
Presenters may request that their paper be refereed, if they submit the whole paper
with the proposal, by the due date.

Managing change and assuring quality
in education for teaching
Within the broad framework of the World Assembly theme, plenary and concurrent sessions will focus on the topics below.
- Teacher education and societal partnership
- Standards for professionalism in the knowledge society
- Educational reform: Needs and future challenges
- Emerging technologies in teacher training
- Teaching education for student-centered environments
- Developing leadership for Learning Organizations
We invite you to share your work and experience with participants from all over the world. We welcome research reports,
best practices, self-reflections and discussions, and literature reviews, particularly those which focus upon influence and
impact of policy and research in your school practice.
Guidelines for Submission: The Proposal
All abstracts and papers should be submitted to ICET in Microsoft Word format as e-mail attachments, or mailed
to ICET on disks. All abstracts and papers should be submitted in English, the language of the Assembly.
There are two separate submission procedures: the Proposal and the Paper.
(These procedures are in addition to the presentation at the conference.)
The Proposal includes the elements detailed below.

sheet form we have developed. To obtain the form, click here.
If you are unable to download the form, please email us at icet@icet-online.org and we will email
(or, if necessary, fax) the form to you.
NOTE: This cover sheet form is built to accommodate 1-6 authors. If you have additional authors, please email us at
icet@icet-online.org and we will send you a different cover sheet form.

Proposal. If at all possible,
please use the template we have developed. To obtain the template,
click here. If you are unable to download the template, please email us at
icet@icet-online.org and we will email (or, if necessary, fax) the form to you. The Proposal
includes a Summary and an Abstract, detailed just below.

Summary (not to exceed 100 words)
NOTE: The Summary and/or the Abstract will appear in the Conference Program, as well as, the
2009 ICET International Yearbook (details below).

Abstract (300-2000 words). The Abstract should provide a summary of completed research
and/or a description of the project, with references (regardless of the proposed presentation format). The Abstract should include as many of the
following categories as are applicable, preferably in this order: objectives or purpose; perspectives or theoretical framework; methods, techniques or
modes of inquiry; data sources or evidence; results, conclusions, and/or points of view; educational importance of the study; references.

OPTIONAL — If your paper is to be refereed, the complete paper must be received by the
Conference Committee with the above materials.
Proposal submission
-
Send all of the elements of the proposal (Cover Sheet and Proposal) — and complete paper, if it is to
be refereed — to the Conference Committee in Microsoft Word format as an e-mail attachment to
icet@icet-online.org, or on disk to the postal address listed below.

Deadline: The proposal (and complete paper, if it is to be refereed) must arrive at the Conference Committee
no later than September 1, 2009.
Guidelines for Submission: The Paper
Papers selected for the World Assembly will be published in the
2009 ICET International Yearbook. Submission deadline for the complete paper is
December 1, 2009.
The Paper includes the

Optional: PowerPoint Presentation
NOTE: The 2009 ICET International Yearbook is published
electronically, on a compact disk (CD). If authors choose to use a PowerPoint presentation at the conference, we are willing to include that in the
Yearbook along with the complete paper, space permitting.
The Paper format

icet@icet-online.org and we will email (or, if necessary, fax) the form to
you. Additional formatting information follows.

File format: Microsoft Word (*.doc) or Rich Text Format (*.rtf)

Font: Times New Roman, 12 point, single-spaced,
if possible

Length: Not to exceed 10 pages

Language: All abstracts and papers should be submitted in English,
the language of the Assembly.

Editing: Editing and "spell check" are the responsibility
of the author.

Separate file for each element of the paper — the complete
paper ("paper") and, if applicable, the PowerPoint presentation "PowerPoint".
Please save each file according to the following pattern:
[Author#1 LastName(s)]_[Title*]_[Paper/PowerPoint]
*If you are presenting more than one paper, please include a one- to
three-word title, to distinguish the papers from each other. Thank you.

All costs associated with paper preparation and participation in the World Assembly are
the responsibility of each author. Papers selected for the World Assembly will be published in the 2009
ICET International Yearbook on Teacher Education and other ICET documents at the discretion of the ICET Board
of Directors.
Submission Deadlines
The following materials must be received by the conference organizers by the specified deadline dates.
September 1, 2009

Cover sheet and Proposal received by the Conference Committee in
Microsoft Word format as an e-mail attachment to
icet@icet-online.org, or on disk (as detailed above). Authors will be informed
of acceptance via email by September 21.

If your paper is to be refereed, the
complete paper must be received by the Conference Committee in Microsoft Word format as an e-mail attachment to
icet@icet-online.org, or on disk (10-page limit). Authors of refereed papers will be informed
of acceptance by October 1.
November 1 — For all authors of accepted papers

Registration Form completed and submitted to ICET.

Registration Fee fully paid (NOTE: To receive the
"early registration discount," fee must be paid by October 15, 2009.) Please note that in order to be
scheduled in the World Assembly Program and to present a paper, authors of accepted papers must send their fully paid
Registration Fee and completed Registration Form to ICET by November 1, 2009. Registration Fees received from authors
of accepted papers are not refundable after November 15, 2009.
December 1, 2009 — For all authors of accepted papers

Acceptance &
Copyright Release Form, signed.
This agreement releases the copyright of this version of your paper
to ICET. If authors choose to publish a different version of
their articles elsewhere, permission is readily granted by ICET. (The copyright form will be emailed or
faxed with acceptance letters.)

Complete paper received at ICET in Microsoft Word format as an
e-mail attachment or on disk (not to exceed 10 pages), for inclusion in the 2009 ICET International Yearbook on
Teacher Education. You are also welcome to submit PowerPoint presentations for possible inclusion, if space
is available.
