ICET's Global Programs
ICET serves its members in over 80 countries on all continents. It
maintains strong professional links and working partnerships with
national, regional and international organizations worldwide.
Technical Assistance. ICET provides technical assistance and
consultative services in international education development. It
provides technical assistance to developing countries through the
identification, selection and monitoring of expert consultants for a
wide variety of international education programs and projects. ICET has
managed many projects for organizations such as the World Bank, the U.S.
Agency for International Development, and the Organization of America
States and for national ministries and educational organizations and
institutions around the world. Some consultative projects for UNESCO
have included: Survey of Teacher Trainers in Asia, and North and South
America; secondary Teacher Training in Middle Africa; Innovative
Practices in Teacher Education in Asia, and North and South America;
Paraprofessional Teacher Training in Peru and U.S.; and the Training of
Teacher Educators in Europe.
World Assembly. ICET conducts an annual World Assembly for teacher
educators, classroom teachers, and representatives of government
agencies and leaders from the private sector from around the World. The
Assembly program is devoted to an examination and discussion of national
and international research, programs and strategies that enables teacher
education to respond effectively to development needs. The Assemblies
are held in a different country each year. Some sites have been Nigeria,
Germany, Canada, Thailand, Egypt, Brazil, Korea, France, Netherlands,
Oman, Singapore, Jordan, Namibia, Chile, Australia, Hong Kong, and South
Africa. The
2006 World Assembly is being held in Fortaleza, Brazil. Please see

Conferences. ICET supports national and regional conferences on topics
of local interest by assisting with the dissemination of information,
program development and the identification of speakers and resource
persons to present an international perspective.
Publications. ICET publications include a quarterly electronic newsletter and an
annual International Yearbook on Teacher Education. Additional papers on
international education development issues are published periodically.
ICET and UNESCO have published jointly the first World Directory of
Teacher Training Institutions.
Leadership Training. ICET designs and conducts feasibility studies,
evaluations of programs and international surveys, and commissions
research papers on topics related to educational development.

research papers on topics related to educational development.
Educational Study Programs. ICET plans and conducts educational study
tours in conjunction with the annual World Assembly. Groups of educators
spend up to two weeks visiting institutions and cultural sites in the
geographical region of the Assembly.
